Vice Principal's Message
Welcome from Mr. Maguire

August 1, 2019

Dear Bell Oaks Upper Elementary Families:

It is with immense pride that I write to you as the newly appointed Vice-Principal of Bell Oaks Upper Elementary. It is an honor to be selected for this position and to work with Dr. Castiglione, Mr. Farinelli, and our great educational staff. I enter this position with both personal and professional middle school experience and I am eager to become a part of the Bell Oaks family.

My wife, Danielle and I, have three, intermediate school-aged children and certainly understand that upper elementary is an important time in the life of a student. We are excited that this year, our son Owen will be heading to high school, Estella will be entering eighth-grade, and Wynnie will be beginning sixth-grade.

As a teacher and administrator, I have been fortunate to work in education for over 17 years. My career began as a teaching assistant at Lower Township High School and then a teacher of 6-8th grade in language arts, writing, and social studies at Maurice River Township Elementary in the Millville School District.

For the past ten years, I have been a sixth-grade teacher and administrator in the Haddonfield School District. During my tenure, I served as an advocate for students as Interim High School Dean of Students, have orchestrated a successful professional learning program as district professional development chair, and have created various district curriculum programs such as computer coding and robotics courses, the Passion Project public speaking program, and various computer science after-school clubs.

My tenure as a middle school teacher has given me a unique understanding of the mind of an upper elementary student and I use this knowledge in every leadership decision. As your mission statement says, I pride myself on being a lifelong learner and take pride in helping students and adults grow to achieve academic, social, and emotional success. My experiences have helped me to grow into a leader who recognizes that student learning must be differentiated, engaging, and relevant and that educational staff needs to be supported and encouraged to explore innovative ways to help our students reach academic and emotional goals. Once you meet me, you’ll see that I am passionate about these principles. Like you, I want what’s best for our children. By working together, I know we can make it happen.

As I transition into the Vice Principal role, I want you to know that my door is always open. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. In fact, I would love to meet you before the school year begins. To do so, please schedule an appointment at the school to meet me this summer or join us for the “Meet and Greet” Mr. Maguire Coffee Event in early September. See you soon!
