Superintendent's Message

Mrs. Castiglione

Dear Bellmawr Learning Community Member,

Another academic year is upon us, one that promises to be as fulfilling and exciting as those that have gone before.  As always, our custodians and administrative assistants have been working diligently to prepare the schools for the return of our students and teachers.  You will notice many improvements to the facilities in all schools. We had another successful summer with camp and extended year programs in two of our schools.

This is an extraordinary opening for the members of Bellmawr Learning Community. Lightning struck the original section of the Burke School on July 3, 2018 at the Burke School. There is extensive damage to that portion of the school which is causing us to relocate 8 of the classrooms.  Thanks to the efforts of our teachers, custodians, administrators and their assistants, we can accommodate all the displaced students in classrooms of their own in different buildings. This is a temporary inconvenience which will result in modernized classrooms in that century old section of the building.  As we build those physical spaces, we will build the hearts and minds of the students with whom we teach each day. Our motto this year is Build, Believe and Achieve in Bellmawr.  We are Architects of Learning!

Please note this important change to our one session days. Dismissal on one session days will be 1:00 for students in grades k-8 and 12:50 for preschool students.  CARE services remain in place on those days.  This time adjustment allows us to provide a lunch period for every student every day.

Class list assignments will be available Thursday August 29th  on your respective school web pages.  They will also be posted on the doors of the elementary schools.  The first day of all students is Thursday September 6, 2018.  Thursday and Friday are both one session days. Lunch will not be available that day so please plan accordingly

On behalf of the members of the Bellmawr Board of Education, the administrators, the teachers and staff members, I wish you and your children the best year ever!

Annette Castiglione, Superintendent
