My name is Ms.Howarth. I am the District Reading Specialist. I am a graduate from Arcadia University in which I earned my Bachelor Degree in Early Education and Special Education. During my first few years of  teaching, I began working with students with language-based learning differences. It was within this first year that I developed a passion for helping students learn to read, so that they could read to learn.

I returned to school to obtain my Master of Education in Literacy Studies in which I acquired my certification as an ESL Specialist and Reading Specialist. Within this same year, I had the opportunity to  further develop my skills by earning my Wilson Reading System certification to become a Wilson Certified Practitioner. My experience as an educator ranges from grades K-5.  I have spent years participating in professional development opportunities and learning communities to gain experience with various interventions, assessments, and research-based practices in literacy. My philosophy is to utilize childrens' natural sense of curiosity as a drive to promote life-long learners through literacy.
