Representatives from BlueSky Power, HESP Solar, and the Bellmawr Board of Education conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony in recognition of the recently completed solar energy project at all three district schools. The Board conducted a public RFP for a Solar PPA with the assistance of BlueSky Power in the Spring of 2021, awarding the contract to HESP solar as the qualified bidder. The project endured lengthy supply chain delays in receiving panels and equipment racking necessary for installation, but the project finally began in the fall of 2022 with solar panel systems installed on the flat roofs of all three school buildings, as well as the roof of the Annette Castiglione Early Childhood Center at Bellmawr Park. The systems became operational just before Christmas 2022. To date, the systems have already saved the district over $5,000 in the few short months of small sunlight since they became operational and are estimated to save the district $2.5 million in total over the course of the 15 years of the PPA agreement. The district is proud of the sustainability initiative and thanks all district staff, the Mayor and members of Borough Council, and the public overall for their support and assistance with this project.
